Strategic Sourcing team members have over twenty years of hands-on commercial experience. The practice prides itself in deploying experienced practitioners who can add immediate value and build a strong rapport with key operational personnel and management. Reports are important, but results measure real performance. Our people are committed to getting involved and working directly alongside the client operatives to deliver sustainable value.

Since 2003, Strategic Sourcing has since grown to over 20 subject matter experts supporting a wide range of industries across three specialist divisions - Commercial, Aviation and Education.

Bernie Diver, Director

Bernie has advised many leading companies in the negotiation of major strategic sourcing transactions.  Some of the clients advised include Air NZ, RNZAF, Carter Holt Harvey, Fletchers, The Rank Group, Goodman Fielder, and the Wellington City Council.  Bernie has been involved in international negotiations with GE, Air France Industries, Boeing, Rockwell Collins, and PMP Pty Limited. Studying negotiation at Harvard Business School has enabled Bernie to combine his experience and passion for negotiation with the very best of practical frameworks to create value for clients.

Mark Dunlop, Senior Consultant and Organisational Design Lead

Mark is particularly effective in supporting strategic planning, bid management, change management and in assisting client organisations to identify and realise opportunities from strategy through to implementation. He believes in developing people to their potential and works to set up the conditions for business success built on the success of individuals at all levels. His point of difference is the emphasis on delivering change and performance through aligning the organisation and individuals.  He has extensive experience in identifying organisational talent and in training, coaching and mentoring managers and future leaders to achieve to their potential.  Feedback from participants across a range of organisations and development programmes facilitated by Mark endorses his capability in effectively passing-on his knowledge and experience as an effective coach and executive mentor.

Mark brings extensive line-management, executive and change leadership experience in both the private and public sector, with a track record in commissioning successful start-up entities for clients in New Zealand and Australia.   His salaried work experience includes roles in management, executive and governance with the Fletcher Building Group, Housing New Zealand, PWC, IBM and Foodstuffs. He brings this managerial background and a diversity of industry experience to client opportunities.

John Campbell, Senior Defence and Government Consultant

John brings significant operational experience to the Strategic Sourcing team as a senior New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) Naval Officer and Group Manager of NZ Customs Service. He uses his applied systems knowledge to look at a system as a capability and to the effects a change will have on the wider system, organisation, people and roles. John has been responsible for turning strategy into action to deliver the desired outcomes through effective communication and engagement with staff.

 

Rob Keyworth

Rob Keyworth is a Strategic Sourcing specialist with significant experience in contract management, procurement, business process improvement, and project management. Rob brings 25 years’ experience in Operations Management and Quality Management having worked with industry leaders, his key strength being his ability to quickly analyse and identify solutions to the underlying causes of organisational problems. He is personable individual and a professional with a strong ethical approach to business.

 

Phil Garside, Aviation Director

With over 38 years of experience in the aviation industry, Phil is uniquely placed to provide guidance and advice on a wide range of disciplines. Phil’s successes in the management of sophisticated and high value aviation assets quickly developed to fleet wide responsibilities, most recently for Cathay Pacific and Air New Zealand. Phil’s experience has been invaluable in the negotiation of strategic support contracts within Air New Zealand and more recently for Strategic Sourcing’s key clients. He has a keen eye for opportunities to simplify end-to-end processes, thereby reducing costs and improving productivity. Phil is the Engineering Director of Strategic Sourcing’s Aviation Division.

Jeff Whitworth, Defence and Logisitcs Expert

Jeff is an active Lt COL NZ Army Reservist with over 25 years of operational knowledge in logistics and supply chains from work in the NZDF and globally. He has utilised that experience to deliver successful programs and projects in some of the harshest environments across military, United Nations, oil and gas, and humanitarian sectors. Along with working privately overseas for the last fourteen years, Jeff has also deployed twice on operations with the NZDF and held key appointments which assists in his understanding of logistics and supply chain challenges, links and their solutions.

Omid Baghshomali

Omid has significant aviation quality assurance experience, as a former RNZAF officer, holding a Bachelor of Engineering, Associate Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering and specialist training in Prince 2, Aircraft Stress Analysis, Materials Technology and Lead Auditing.

As a core member of the Strategic Sourcing team since 2006, Omid’s expertise lies in the ability to undertake analysis of complex businesses, identifying Total Cost of Ownership and designing leaner operating models. He is experienced in project and change management, continuous improvement, engineering /technical management, working with all levels of internal and external stakeholders, business analysis, management/technical consulting, contractor and client management, and policy development. Omid is a certified Prince2 practitioner.
